FAQ
Common questions
How do I know if my car key has a chip in it?
If the vehicle is from roughly 1998 or later and the key has a thick plastic head, it almost certainly contains a transponder chip. A blade-only copy will turn the ignition but the engine will start and immediately stall.
Why is a push-to-start key so expensive to replace?
The proximity fob is a more complex and more costly piece of hardware, the programming process is more involved, and losing all fobs means the vehicle security system needs a new credential written to it.
Can I buy a car key online and have it programmed?
Sometimes, if it is the correct part number and frequency for your vehicle and is not already locked to another car. Bring it out when the locksmith arrives so it can be checked.
