  • Transponder, chip, remote head, proximity and push-to-start keys

  • Licensed & insured
  • Serving Birmingham since 2018
  • Fully mobile, we come to you

We have handled automotive lock and key work across the Birmingham metro since 2018, including car lockouts, car key replacement when every key is lost, transponder and chip key programming, key fob replacement and programming, ignition repair, trunk unlocks and broken key extraction.

Most drivers call a dealership first and discover the car has to be towed there. A mobile locksmith removes that step: we cut and program keys at your vehicle, so there is no tow bill and no waiting for a dealer service appointment.

A mobile car locksmith instead of a tow to the dealer

Automotive key work has changed. A 1998 pickup takes a mechanically cut key; a current SUV uses an encrypted transponder or a proximity fob that has to be paired to the vehicle computer. Both are handled by mobile locksmiths every day, and the equipment travels in the van.

Our automotive service covers domestic, Asian and European makes: Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, Dodge, Ram, Jeep, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Subaru, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, Buick and Cadillac among others. Some late-model vehicles with sealed security systems must go through a dealer; when that is the case we will tell you before you spend money instead of after.

Call (205) 259-8892 with your year, make, model and what happened. That is usually enough to confirm what your vehicle needs and what the work involves.

FAQ

Automotive locksmith questions

Can a locksmith make a car key if I lost all of my keys?

Yes. Losing every key is called an "all keys lost" job. We originate a new key from the vehicle itself (decoding the lock or pulling key data from the vehicle), then cut the blade and program the transponder or fob to the car so it starts and runs.

Is a mobile locksmith cheaper than the dealership for car keys?

Usually, because you avoid a tow and a dealer service appointment. The vehicle stays where it is and the key is cut and programmed there. Cost depends on the key type your vehicle uses: a basic transponder key is far less than a proximity smart key.

Will unlocking my car damage the door or the lock?

No. We use non-destructive entry tools designed for automotive locks and weatherstripping. Coat hangers and improvised wedges are what bend door frames, scratch paint and damage airbags and wiring in the door. Professional tools avoid all of that.

What information should I have ready when I call?

Year, make and model, whether you have any working key left, and the exact location of the vehicle. Photos of the key or fob help too. For key replacement, be ready to show proof of ownership and a photo ID.

Do you program push-to-start proximity keys?

For most makes, yes. Proximity or smart keys are programmed to the vehicle the same way a transponder is, using the correct aftermarket or OEM fob for that platform. A few late-model vehicles restrict programming to the dealer, and we will confirm that for your specific vehicle before dispatch.
