FAQ
House Lockout Service questions
Can a locksmith open my house door without damaging it?
Yes. Most residential locks are opened with non-destructive picking or bypass techniques that leave the lock, door and frame untouched. Drilling is a last resort for locks that are already seized or broken, and we always discuss it with you first.
What proof do I need to show that I live there?
Photo ID plus something linking you to the address: a lease, utility bill, mail, bank statement or ID that already shows the address. If nothing matches, a landlord or property manager can confirm by phone.
I am a tenant. Can you let me in?
Yes, once we can verify you live there, typically with a lease or mail plus photo ID. Changing or rekeying locks in a rental is different: that needs the landlord’s authorization.
Should I rekey after being locked out?
Only if the keys are actually lost or stolen. If they were simply left inside, no. If they are gone, rekeying stops anyone holding them from walking in, and it costs much less than replacing hardware.
Can you open a deadbolt, or only knob locks?
Both. Deadbolts, knob locks, lever handles, mortise locks and most keyed residential hardware are all standard lockout work.
